97 Points - James Halliday
Carillion's Orange vineyard is located on the volcanic soils at the foothills of Mt Canobolas. With an elevation of 800m above sea level, the vineyard consistently produces some outstanding cool-climate Pinot Noir.
As the name suggests, the 2022 Carillion Six Clones Pinot Noir is produced from a mix of six Burgundian clones. The result is another stunning Pinot Noir with elegant aromas red fruits and savoury undertones, with dark cherry notes and plush tannins.
"97 Points. Each clone (114, 115, 777, Abel, 667 and MV6) was hand picked and vinified separately; 30% whole bunches, wild-yeast fermentation, then pressed to third-use French puncheons for the last stage of fermentation, 7 months' maturation in oak before blending. Vinous logistics of a high level. Transparent crimson, verging rosé, colour. The wine has a scented, perfumed bouquet and a spicy, savoury light-bodied palate. Screw cap. 13.5% alc. Drink: 2023 - 2032. $45"- James Halliday, Wine Companion.
