"Ripping value"- Mike Bennie
As the site of the first grape plantings in Western Australia's Great Southern region, Forest Hill is one of the pioneers of cool-climate winemaking in WA. Forest Hill's collection of Rieslings are some of the most impressive made anywhere in Australia; this entry-level offering always delivers remarkable value drinking.
This 2024 Forest Hill Vineyard Estate Riesling opens with lifted blossom, citrus and subtle yellow fruits leaping out of the glass. The palate is vibrant and textured, with concentrated lime juice, lemon, and subtle tropical notes all sitting in perfect harmony on the long finish.
"An easy-drinking, super approachable riesling style. Lemon-lime, faint ginger, some bath salts, a touch of talc, licks of passionfruit, touches of saline/sea spray characters. All of this in a pleasingly juicy, lightly chalky, refreshing kind of frame and persona. A little chalkiness in the finish a nice x-factor. A sense of purity, too. Individual. Delightful. Ripping value. 93 Points. 12% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2032. Screwcap"- Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion.
"This was picked a month earlier than 2023 and comes from the younger vines and includes some of the Geisenheim clones. Has a distinctive beeswax aroma with plenty of bright talcy bath salts character. Has good depth and long flavours with a fine acidity sustaining the finish. Has a lovely bright fruit character to it. 92 Points"- Ray Jordan, rayjordanwine.com.au.
