The family-owned Aphelion winery has established itself as one of the star wine producers of South Australia, which continues to attract praise for its personality packed wines.
The 2025 Aphelion Callow Grenache Blanc is made grapes grown at the certified Organic and Biodynamic Yangarra vineyard near Kangarilla in McLaren Vale. These are hand-picked and whole bunch pressed. 60% of the juice was fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and varietal character with the balance being fermented in one new Austrian oak hogshead and seasoned French oak barriques.
The nose is intense and vibrant with fruit character aromatics combining with citrus and spice. On the palate a textural edge provides a food friendly aspect, and cinnamon and nutmeg spice complement the nashi pear and stone fruit flavours. A wine with plenty of personality and interest, this is drinking beautifully now and should continue to do so over the next 6 - 8 years.
