Michel Chapoutier is one of France's most prominent winemakers; a seventh-generation member of the Chapoutier family who have been working in the famous Rhone Valley since 1808. Named after the Hermitage commune, Chapoutier established his Tournon label after purchasing vineyards in Victoria's Heathcote and Pyrenees regions in 1997.
Inspired by the great, long-lived white wines from France's Rhone Valley, this 2015 Chapoutier Tournon Mathilda Viognier Marsanne is made from grapes grown throughout Central Victoria. Pale gold in colour, this offers stunning fruit vibrancy, flavour and balance. The Viognier adds beautiful aromatics with florals, honeysuckle and stonefruit notes leaping out of the glass. With plenty of drink-now appeal, it retains freshness and minerality while delivering excellent weight and mouthfeel following a few years in the bottle.
Available at this discounted clearance price, this is a superb value, personality-packed white wine that comes with our highest recommendation.
