Rob Hall was a winemaker at the esteemed Mount Mary vineyard for over 10 vintages, and during that time it's safe to assume he gained great insight into how to make top class Yarra Valley wine. After departing Mount Mary, Rob Hall launched his eponymous label, with a focus on making Yarra Valley varietals to be enjoyed in their youth at a very reasonable price point.
This 2024 Rob Hall Chardonnay is another impressive, elegant cool-climate, Yarra Valley Chardonnay that allows the pristine fruit to shine. Offering vibrant aromatics of yellow nectarine, cream and some floral notes. The flavours follow on the palate which is textural and long with refreshing acidity and a saline pithy finish, with a subtle touch of oak adding further complexity.
"A blend of fruit from Healesville, Gladysdale and Panton Hill. Bright green gold. An immediately accessible wine with its aromas of ripe stone fruits, fresh guava and a touch of spice. The palate is flavoursome with just enough acidity to keep it both gently structured and balanced. 92 Points. Drink: 2025 - 2028. 13% alc. $30"- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion.
