Rob Hall was a winemaker at the esteemed Mount Mary vineyard for over 10 vintages, and during that time it's safe to assume he gained great insight into how to make top class Yarra Valley wine. After departing Mount Mary, Rob Hall launched his eponymous label, with a focus on making Yarra Valley varietals to be enjoyed in their youth at a very reasonable price point.
This 2025 Rob Hall Chardonnay is another impressive, elegant cool-climate, Yarra Valley Chardonnay that allows the pristine fruit to shine. Offering vibrant aromatics of yellow nectarine, cream and some floral notes. The flavours follow on the palate which is textural and long with refreshing acidity and a saline pithy finish, with a subtle touch of oak adding further complexity.
"93 Points. A lively green gold. An attractive bouquet of white peach, pear and a little ginger spice. While the light- to medium-bodied palate is still quite tightly wound, this will begin to open up over the next six months and will still be looking good three to five years from now. $30. Drink: 2026 - 2031. Screwcap"- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion.
