"Love this" - Gary Walsh | Last Stocks
As the second label of the highly regarded Punt Road winery, the Airlie Bank wines regularly deliver extraordinary value examples of the Yarra Valley's flagship varieties. Under the winemaking of Tim Shand, the quality of the Airlie Bank wines continues to soar.
This 2020 Airlie Bank Pinot Noir is another elegant, beautifully structured Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, with loads of varietal cherry, strawberry and raspberry fruit notes. At this great price, it's likely to be one of the best value Aussie Pinots going round.
"You’ll likely buy it for less than the RRP listed here, which is a good thing for the consumer. Another excellent wine from the master of complexity at entry level prices, Tim Shand. Orange peel, amaro herbs, red fruit, spicy, and very savoury. It’s light, kind of juicy, but bright and complex, sappy and a little bit ‘out there’, slight smokiness, energy and crunch, and all-round deliciousness of drinking. Finish is good. Love this. 92 Points Tasted: Feb21 12.5% alc. $23" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
Punt Road remains today in the heart of cosmopolitan Melbourne. A bridge now stands where the punt once was, and the vineyards have been re-established throughout the Yarra Valley, where the grapes for this wine are grown today.
