94 Points - Campbell Mattinson
Bellvale was established in 1998 with a determined vision to grow and produce high -quality site expressive Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Located in the lush Tarwin River Valley of South Gippsland, the 19 ha north-facing, dry-grown, high-density vineyard lies 165 to 195 m above sea level on deep red loam of volcanic origin.
Vibrant and lifted, this 2025 Bellvale Pinot Noir reflects the character of the Bellvale vineyard with purity and finesse. Fragrant red fruits sit alongside subtle herbal notes and a gentle thread of spice. The palate is lively and energetic, with a refreshing crunch of acidity that carries the fruit with clarity and drive. Fine, silky tannins add shape and intricacy, revealing layers of detail as the wine unfolds. The finish is long and graceful, capturing both the vitality and quiet precision of this cool Gippsland site.
"94 Points. This is very promising. It’s also very good buying. There’s often something about Gippsland Pinot Noir that just has that extra in-built hard-to-put-your-finger-on complexity. This smells the goods and backs the promise up on the palate. It’s a light-and-insistent style but there’s plenty going on and it’s beautifully well sustained. Flavour-wise this wine is built on fruit and undergrowth with spice, orange rind and earth-like notes studded within. It has (fine) tannin, it has texture, it has X-factor. Tasted: Jun 26. 13% alc. $39 Screwcap. Drink: 2026 - 2033"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
