95 Points - Campbell Mattinson
After years of producing and winning awards for some of the biggest names in Australian wine (including Mount Langi Ghiran), Ben Haines now focuses solely on the wines under his eponymous label.
Producing some outstanding wines from vineyards across Victoria, Haines has a focus on cool-climate regions and sustainable minimal-intervention grape growing and winemaking. This 2019 Ben Haines Grampians Shiraz is a brilliant example of what this famous region is capable of and delivers wonderful value drinking at this price.
"95 Points. 100% whole bunches, fermented wild, bottled unfined and unfiltered. It's had a lot of love and attention put into it and it shows. It presents a wide array of peppery/ bunchy/ herbal flavours, but it's also svelte and textural and the fruit, well, it's ripe and ready to seduce. It's a fresh, complex, well-structured wine of substance. 13% alc. $30. Drink: 2036." - Campbell Mattinson, winecompanion.com.au.
