Bests Bin 1 Shiraz has been in fine form in recent years; the 2011 vintage was awarded the 2012 Jimmy Watson Trophy while subsequent vintages have been in fine form. Made from Best’s own vineyards as well as trusted local growers, this wine is meticulously crafted with the same attention to detail as their flagship wines.
This 2018 Bests Bin 1 is a classic, cool-climate, aromatic Shiraz, made in a style that's floral, spicy and peppery yet retains generous fruit characteristics and intensity. It is a well-balanced wine where alcohol does not dominate. This is an elegant wine crafted to drink now, and makes a great accompaniment to food.
"95 Points. Picked by hand and by Opti sorter/harvester, whole berry fermentation with 5% whole bunches. Wine show success is no surprise. Typical Great Western wine with high quality intensity, focus and length to its spicy/peppery black forest floor fruits, at only 14% alcohol. To 2038. $25" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2021.
As one of Australia’s oldest and continuously family owned and operated wineries, Best's craft extraordinary and iconic wines of elegance and longevity. Their flagship wine, the Thomson Family Shiraz, has an 'Outstanding' designation from the revered Langton’s Auction house and Bin O Shiraz is rated as 'Distinguished'.
Owned by just two families since 1866, the Best family who founded the winery, and today, their vision lives on through the Thomson’s, having purchased the property after Henry Best’s death in 1920.
