95 Points - Ray Jordan
Castle Rock is one of the stars of Western Australia's Great Southern region. The high altitude and exposure to south-east breezes results in a prolonged growing season and grapes of exceptional flavour intensity.
Made by the talented Rob Diletti, the 2024 Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir shows the lofty heights Great Southern Pinot Noir is capable of reaching. Plenty of vibrant strawberry and cherry aromatics leap out of the glass, accompanied by hint of spice and complex gaminess. The palate is packed with similar flavours (cherry, strawberry, raspberry), the fruit-driven, silky mouthfeel in perfect balance with the quality French oak. A stunningly complex Great Southern Pinot Noir with subtle complexity, this is well only strengthen the reputation of this star producer.
"95 Points. Rob Diletti has proved himself one of the state’s finest winemakers over the years, and this is especially manifest in his approach with Pinot Noir. Shows elegance with slightly savoury truffle characters with a vibrant fruit purity. Typical aromas of strawberry and even a little cherry with a slightly savoury influence that threads through into the palate, rolls effortlessly over the palate with fine tannins and a nice integrated use of oak. Fleshy, textural, and retaining fine acidity. A testament to good viticulture and winemaking in a challenging year. $46. Drink: 2025 - 2033"- Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot.
