Circe Wines is a partnership between Dan Buckle (current head winemaker at Domaine Chandon) and Aaron Drummond who met while working at Mount Langi Ghiran back in 2007. With a shared affection for their native Mornington Peninsula and Pinot Noir, Circe has developed a reputation for producing some of the region's most impressive examples of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
This 2018 Circe Pinot Noir is another hugely impressive Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from the Circe partnership. A bright, clean style of Pinot Noir with loads of vibrant red fruit flavours; cherry, raspberries and cinnamon are all on offer here. Complexity is added with around 60% whole-bunch pressed, and some well handled oak. A great drinking Circe Pinot Noir that is ready to be enjoyed now.
"94 Points. Thinned to one bunch per shoot, hand-picked, 30% partial whole bunch a la Coldstream Hills '97', 30% whole bunch and pigeage and a mix of whole bunch and crushed ferments with the same attention to detail. The difference is seemingly of clone 115 planted in '14. This is a light-bodied version of its MV6 sibling. $40. 13.5% alc. Drink by 2028. Screw cap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
