95+ Points - Campbell Mattinson
Collector Wines produces small quantities of table wine. Grapes are grown on the characteristic lean pink granites and reddish shale loams of the Canberra District and Tumbarumba. The wines are hand-made for balance, character and depth of flavour.
A vibrant, pristine cool-climate Chardonnay, the 2021 Collector Tiger Tiger Chardonnay is fresh on the nose with aromas of white flowers, grapefruit and flint. A wine of depth and subtle complexity, it is mouth-filling with concentrated flavours of citrus, green apple, lemon curd and brioche, with a long and balanced finish.
"95+ Points. Tumbarumba chardonnay grown at between 610 and 750m metres above sea level. Standout chardonnay. Piercing, long and complex. Grapefruit and florals, matchsticks and nectarine. There’s a keen flintiness here, a real drive, an impression that everything has been done sans compromise. There’s definitely a good deal of sulphide-funk here but the wine carries it with such authority. Tasted: Mar22 12.9% alc. $45 Screwcap Drink: 2023 - 2030+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
