A pioneer of Margaret River wine, Cullen continues to produce some of the region's finest wines from their mature estate vineyards. Under the guidance of Chief Winemaker Vanya Cullen, all wines are grown on a certified biodynamic, organic, carbon neutral and naturally powered estate.
The 2024 Cullen Mangan Vineyard Red Moon is a blend of malbec/ grenache/ mourvèdre/ petit verdot and merlot, all grown on Cullen's Mangan Vineyard. It has had no fining and has spent 7 months in 15% new oak. Hand harvested and naturally fermented, it is a wine which reflects the land where it is grown.
This delivers a vibrant, aromatic wine opening with aromas of plum, cherries and plenty of floral notes. The palate is medium bodied with dark cherries, blueberries and savoury notes on the finish. An easy-drinking red offering from Cullen that offers plenty of enjoyment in the short to medium-term.
"93 Points. A blend of 33/23/22/17/5% malbec/ grenache/ mourvèdre/ petit verdot/ merlot. Fruit still comes off the Mangan vineyard, augmented by 33% off the Cullen property. While the vintage was a hot, dry one, this is so fragrant, lively and buoyant – belying the season. Dark fruit – all plums and blackberries with red berries liberally coated with warm, woodsy spices (not oak per se, as this is aged 8 months in older barrels). Fuller bodied with fine, silty tannins and juicy acidity. Terrific red now but will garner more complexity in time."- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion.
