96 Points - Angus Hughson
Domaine Naturaliste is the project of highly acclaimed winemaker Bruce Dukes. After twenty five years of applying his craftsmanship to international and local producers, Dukes launched his own range of wines named after the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge; the dominant land form of viticultural significance in Margaret River.
Artus Chardonnay showcases the local Gin Gin Chardonnay clone to produce a vibrant, complex and textural example of Margaret River Chardonnay with a nod to “old world” Chardonnay. A wine with a wonderful recent record, the 2020 Artus is another sublime offering from Domaine Naturaliste.
"96 Points. A fine, detailed and complete version of chardonnay that is unmistakably Margaret River but also shows the results from plenty of care in the winery. Bright pale straw in colour, its shows beautiful concentration and focus of citrus, floral and nectarine fruits intermingled with savoury and smoky natural ferment and crushed cashew scented oak. It’s the real deal. There is also a rich vein of genuine flavour on the palate, as all great chardonnay should, with some buttery nuances and all wound up tight by cleansing acidity that drives through to a long and bright finish. Complexity builds as the wine sits in the glass which bodes very well for the cellar and you just know this wine will get better and better and better…. $53. Drink: 2024 - 2032"- Angus Hughson, winepilot.com
