96 Points - Nick Stock | New Vintage Elderton Command Shiraz
Elderton Command Shiraz has established a reputation as one of Australia's finest examples of Shiraz. Drawn from a 125+ year old single vineyard site at their home in Nuriootpa, the legendary status of Elderton's Command is seemingly enhanced with each release.
The highly anticipated 2018 vintage of Elderton Command is another superb example of this iconic Barossa Shiraz. Blackberry fruit, aniseed and spices abound on the nose that carry through to a typically rich and generous palate that we've come to expect from Elderton's Command. There's always plenty of interest in this wine and fans of Command will find lots to love in this one.
"96 Points. A great release of Command, this carries the bold and deeply flavorful style of the vintage effortlessly, a vintage that played into the natural style of this rich Barossa Valley shiraz. There’s so much to love about this wine, from the rich blackberry, red-plum and spice aromas and flavors to the silky, fine and long tannins. Floats long on the smooth finish"- Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com.
“95 Points. From 124yo estate vines in Nuriootpa. Matured 30 months in new American and French oak puncheons. Brooding Barossa shiraz of billowing character. Smoked mettwurst and pan juices. Spicy dark and red berries of all kinds. No small dollop of milk chocolate oak. Quintessential Barossa, replete with generous breadth and enduring length, sustained by fine-ground tannins of considerable endurance."- Tyson Stelzer, Halliday Wine Companion.
