95 Points - Campbell Mattinson
Formerly known as The Halls Gap vineyard, Fallen Giants sits on one of the most revered sites in Victoria's famous Grampians region. With a focus on the signature varietals of the Grampians region, namely Shiraz, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines of Fallen Giants rarely fail to impress and continue to attract plenty of fans.
This 2021 Fallen Giants Cabernet Sauvignon is another impressive offering from this winery that's in fine recent form. A beautiful medium-bodied wine, it delivers plenty of varietal characters; blackcurrant and plum notes, with an appealing lick of quality oak and some nice savoury undertones. A Grampians Cabernet with loads of appeal, this is sure to drink very for the best part of the next decade.
"95 Points. Grampians cabernet is hardly flavour of the month, but Fallen Giants is doing its best to change that. This is another excellent release. There's as much pepper as leaf, as much plum as blackcurrant, but there's a sinewy aspect to the tannin that is very cabernet and, as this variety often does, it uses mint/eucalypt characters to very good effect; adding lift and life to the darkness beneath. Add a briar note to the aftertaste and you're in excellent territory. 14.5% alc. $45. Drink: 2026 - 2036. Screwcap"- Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion.
