The 2023 High Country Alpine Valleys Tempranillo is the latest addition to an impressive range of Tempranillo made by Gapsted Estate in the cool climate Alpine Valleys of North East Victoria. This wine is reflective of its cool climate region and a cool vintage. Intense, lifted aromatics of cherry pepper, cola nut and star anise transition to black cherry and blackberry fruits with background nuances of red liquorice and mocha chocolate.
Medium to full bodied, the palate offers a great combination of varietal fruit, tannins and acid, with the subtle oak adding some power and a refined lingering finish. A wine intended to be enjoyed in the short to medium term, this offers great value drinking at this discounted price (RRP $27).
