98 Points - Philip Rich | Very Limited Stocks
Giant Steps has forged a reputation as one of the Yarra Valley's leading wineries, with their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay consistently among the nation's finest examples. The Applejack Vineyard is a special site located on a dramatic slope in the upper Yarra Valley and is closely planted and fastidiously managed.
This highly acclaimed 2022 Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Chardonnay is a complex, well-weighted Yarra Chardonnay opening with a spicy, savoury nose with cardamom, vanilla and lemon curd. The palate is layered, savoury and infinitely long, with real length and drive. A Chardonnay is high demand, our very limited stocks will go fast.
"98 Points. This is a magnificent wine and the best Giant Steps chardonnay I've tasted. Bright green gold. A stunning bouquet of orchard and stone fruits, grilled nuts, white jasmine and marine scents. Just as complex on the intense yet perfectly balanced palate before finishing spicy, chalky and very long. Screw Cap. 12.5% alc. Drink: 2022 - 2027"- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion 2024.
"96+ Points. Well this is apple-like, it’s not just the power of suggestion, it’s like biting into something cold and crunchy, lemonade and frozen meal, backed by nectarines, backed by nuts and stones. This dials back the intensity slightly, lifts the elegance, splays the flavours into a complex carpet, and then stretches its legs fully through the finish. It’s a stunning wine, and my pick of this year’s releases (by a whisker). $80. Drink: 2025 - 2030+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, 14 July, 2023.
