96+ Points - Philip Rich
Giant Steps has forged a reputation as one of the Yarra Valley's leading wineries, with their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay consistently among the nation's finest examples. Named 'Winery Of The Year' in the 2025 Halliday Wine Companion, Giant Steps continues to produce some stunning cool-climate wines.
The 2025 Circle Of Fifths Pinot Noir is made from a blend of Giant Steps' single vineyard sites; namely Tarraford, Sexton, Primavera, Applejack and Bastard Hill. Made to showcase the strengths of these vineyards in one wine - this was meticulously crafted and fine-tuned over many blending sessions. The result is another vibrant, beautifully structured Pinot Noir with the depth and complexity found in only the Yarra Valley's finest examples.
"96+ Points. A blend of all the single-vineyard wines. 40% whole bunches. A medium, bright crimson red. A beautifully fragrant wine with its aromas of perfectly ripened strawberry, black raspberry, rose, lavender and cinnamon stick. Unfurls on the medium-bodied, textured and mouth-filling palate. The tannins are succulent and you barely notice the whole bunches. A step up on last year's Circle of Fifths and a wine that will still be looking good a decade from now."- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion.
"94 Points. This is showing a little more oak than is ideal, early days and all, but the fruit is excellent, so too the structure and indeed the length. Hold off for 12 months and this will be a ripper. Berries aplenty, woodsy spice notes, flashes of whole bunch complexity and a sinewy, smoky, cherry-berried finish. Tonic, cherries and smokes is the wine’s News In Brief, with twiggy structure accompanying."- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
