The Glaetzer family has been a part of the Barossa Valley and its viticulture history since 1888. The highly regarded Ben Glaetzer is now making some outstanding Barossa Valley reds under his Glaetzer label.
Glaetzer Wallace takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in a thoroughly modern way. The 2020 Wallace is a vibrant Barossa red wine, packed with bright red-berry fruit, redcurrant and licorice flavours. The soft and rounded Grenache fruit tannin and the savoury finish of Shiraz combine beautifully, while refreshing acidity provides both lift and depth.
"This 2020 vintage of a Shiraz Grenache blend offers exceptional value for fans of big reds from the Barossa Valley. Hailing from the northern part of the region, it offers impressive upfront aromas of fruit compote and mixed blue and black berries with Grenache offsetting its generally sweet style offering layers of new leather and spice. It’s a bit jammy and fleshy, but also retains its balance with chunky tannins providing a muscular palate and supporting good length. This is hard to put down. 90 Points. $23. Drink: 2023 - 2026"- Angus Hughson, winepilot.com
