RRP $40 | 96 Points - James Halliday
Heirloom is the venture of experienced duo Zar and Elena Brooks; who have previously founded Dandelion Vineyards and Zonte's Footsteps. With an aim of preserving the unique old vineyards of South Australia, championing the best clones of each variety and embracing organic and biodynamic practices, the wines from Heirloom consistently impress.
The 2017 Heirloom Shiraz is an intensely flavoured yet poised red wine that manages to deliver a load of blackberry, dark chocolate and blue fruits while maintaining lovely balance and approachability. A McLaren Vale Shiraz that will offer plenty of appeal over the next decade, this offers remarkable value drinking at this discounted price (RRP $40).
"96 Points. Deeply coloured, this is a wine as much about its region as variety, no mean feat given the depth of the wine. It's the conjunction of blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate and neatly introduced tannins to provide the structure. This ticks all the boxes. $40. 14.5% alc. Drink by 2037. Screwcap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
