97 Points - Gary Walsh
Stoney Rise is owned and operated by Joe and Lou Holyman who have established a reputation for making some of Tasmania's finest wines. The 2020 Holyman Chardonnay is a wine of elegance and structure; stone fruit and citrus dominate the nose, while the palate is mouth filling and textured - finishing with customary impressive length and intensity.
Another beautifully complex Tasmanian Chardonnay that is already attracting plenty of attention, our limited stocks of the 2020 Holyman Chardonnay will not last long.
"97 Points. Now has Lutruwita on the front label, which is a nice touch. Joe is on point. All class. Fine-boned and filigreed, tight, precise, but delivers flavour and abundant energy. There’s a little whiff of struck match, white peach, citrus, vanilla almond cream and cinnamon, maybe some green olive, with outstanding drive and length. Pure and wonderful. Love at first sip. Tasted: Sep21 12% alc. $60 Screwcap. Drink: 2022 - 2030"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
"As usual, our 2020 Holyman Chardonnay was pressed straight into 100% new 500 litre French Oak puncheons for ferment and maturation. Nine months in oak before being racked and bottled. The 2020 season was the sort of growing season in lutruwita I remember as child (just without the Pandemic thing). It was warm and stable. The 2020 version of our Holyman Chardonnay is a powerful wine, but balanced by our natural acidity."- Joe Holyman, Stoney Rise Wines.
