New Vintage | 95+ Points - Gary Walsh
Stoney Rise is owned and operated by Joe and Lou Holyman who have established a reputation for making some of Tasmania's finest wines. The 2022 Holyman Chardonnay is a wine of elegance and structure; stone fruit and citrus dominate the nose, while the palate is mouth filling and textured - finishing with customary impressive length and intensity.
Another beautifully complex Tasmanian Chardonnay that is already attracting plenty of attention, our limited stocks of the 2022 Holyman Chardonnay will not last long.
"95+ Points. Holyman Chardonnay one of the best in the county for me. Lots of cinnamon spice, brioche, toast and struck match, but also quite a lot of seaweed and brine, in with that lemon zest, white peach and green melon. It’s tight, almost electric in intensity, with a saline fino sherry-like tang and zesty umami flavour. And length to go. Feels very coiled and reticent as at now. Sharp steel. Distinctive. So much energy. Wait.”- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front 2023.
"95 Points. A compact and salty mid-weighted chardonnay. Paradoxically, an immensely expressive one, needing a workout in the glass. Demur at first, before riffs on truffled lees, acacia, toasted hazelnut and nints of white peach seep across the broadly lathered phenolic seams. Some cedar-vanilla pod oak serves as an adjunct, nestled into the fray. I adore the chew, chomp and saline spread of flavors here. The pungent mineral tension, too, across the finish. Wonderful length. A fleck of reductive flint, servicing further energy"- Ned Goodwin MW, JamesSuckling.com.
