Howard Park Chardonnay is consistently a leading example of the modern style of Australian Chardonnay; barrel-fermented yet elegant, lean and sophisticated. The 2018 Howard Park Margaret River Chardonnay displays vibrant mineral, citrus and pear fruit characters with some savoury and nutty notes from the influence of quality oak and lees. While drinking superbly now, there's no doubt this will reward those patient enough to cellar it for a few years.
"94 Points. Elegant-but-powerful chardonnay out of Margaret River. Straight into excellent territory. Stonefruits and fennel, cedarwood and chalk. There’s a creaminess to the mouthfeel but there’s a minerally edge too; it slides, drives and cuts its way through to a long, impressive finish. Sure-footed, quality chardonnay. Tasted: Sep19 13% alc. $58 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2027" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
"This wine is classic contemporary Chardonnay. Fragrant field honey and citrus blossom, with peach skin, pear, nougat and nutmeal give a complex and seductive entrée. The palate’s fine citrus and stone fruits are deftly embellished with a cashew nut creaminess and a mineral savoury note, which add flavour, texture and drive. Fine grain French oak offers subtle support and the bright acidity, a fresh and long finish. A wine of subtle and infinite complexity that will reveal and evolve over time." - Howard Park Wines.
