95 Points - James Halliday
Howard Park's 'Scotsdale' range showcases the classic regional characters of the Great Southern region. This 2016 Howard Park Scotsdale Cabernet Sauvignon delivers the concentrated fruit, elegance and textured complexity Great Southern reds are famous for; plenty of supple and sweet berry fruit flavours with the soft fruit tannins and mineral acidity providing impeccable structure and balance.
"95 Points. Cabernet and the Great Southern join hands to produce a wine with precision and a strong tactile message. Blackcurrant, bay leaf and bramble fruits elegantly nudge oak into line. A wine with a very large drinking window already open. $50. 14% alc. Drink by 2036. Screwcap" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
Howard Park is a pioneering Western Australian winery, proudly helmed by the Burch family. It has been prolific within its 30-year history, encompassing two generations, two wine regions and four vineyards.
The story began in 1986, borne out of an ambition to craft wine with generational cellaring potential.
Spending year’s meticulously discovering quality fruit producers in Western Australia's Margaret River and the Great Southern region, the aim was to identify and develop only the best parcels of fruit for the wine. Small beginnings grew into a multi-regional endeavour, with carefully tended vineyards in these tow premier grape growing regions
Calling two wine regions home has allowed Howard Park to be an Australian leader in crafting award-winning wines that each tell their own story with a distinctive focus. These include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Méthode Traditionelle sparkling wine.
