94 Points - Ken Gargett
JJ Hahn is a result of a partnership with popular winemaker Rolf Binder and the Hahn family who have been growing grapes in the Barossa since 1845. JJ Hahn's 'Reginald' has become known as a consistently high quality and great value example of the classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
This 2023 JJ Hahn Reginald Shiraz Cabernet is another delicious, full-flavoured Barossa red wine offering up loads of ripe black forest fruits and mocha flavours, along with some attractive spice, rounded soft tannins and excellent persistent weight on the palate. A complex yet approachable red wine - this will appeal to the many fans of this outstanding wine.
"94 Points. A Barossa version of the great Aussie wine blend, which will only add to the reputation which is superb and stunning value. The colour here is a deep maroon. The nose is enticing in every possible way - coffee beans, chocolate, black cherries, warm earth, a flick of nuts, dried herbs and black fruits with a touch of mulberries as well. The wine has good length of flavour with a lingering finish and supple, sleek tannins. The palate sees a hint of tobacco leaves emerge. Love it and expect to drink beautifully for a decade. $35. Drink: 2024 - 2034"- Ken Gargett, winepilot.com, October 2024.
"93 Points. Deep crimson with a succulent amalgam of blackberry, blueberry and black cherry fruits. Plenty of fruit depth and dark intensity with hints of clove, blackstrap licorice, dark chocolate, purple floral overtones, panforte, blueberry pie and vanillin oak. JJ Hahn have done an excellent job with the classic Aussie red blend here. Purely fruited, fine tannins sympatico with the fruit and plenty of energy as it sails across the palate. $35. Drink: 2025 - 2038. Screwcap"- Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.
