Established by pioneers Bryan and Jan Johnson in the deep alluvial soils of Marlborough's Waihopai Valley, Johnson Estate is the historic, limited-release name behind the celebrated Spy Valley winery.
The Johnson Estate Pinot Noir is produced from selected estate vineyards blocks in the Omaka, Waihopai and Wairau Valleys of New Zealand's famous Marlborough region. This Pinot is made to reflect the unique terroir of the region, defined by dry conditions and stony river terraces.
This 2019 Johnson Estate Pinot Noir is an elegant, highly approachable, fruit-driven style of Pinot Noir. On the nose, it offers an inviting bouquet dominated by bright red fruits like cherry, cranberry, and red currant, accented by subtle earthy and herbal notes. The palate mirrors these vibrant characters, delivering a medium-bodied profile with balanced acidity and soft, supple tannins that make it remarkably easy-going. It serves as a fantastic expression of cool-climate Marlborough winemaking, pairing perfectly with roasted poultry, duck, or earthy mushroom dishes.
