Established in 1890, the iconic Kay Brothers Amery winery is one of Australia's most historically significant wineries - utilising many of the same practices it did during its formative years. Remarkably this McLaren Vale treasure remains in the founding family hands, with Colin Kay currently at the helm.
Only made in the best years for this variety, Cuthbert in named in honour of Cuthbert 'Cud' Kay, who made wine at Kay Brothers from the 1930's until he handed the reins to his son, Colin, in the 1970's.
The 2023 Kay Brothers Cuthbert Cabernet Sauvignon is open fermented, basket pressed and aged in new French and Bulgarian oak for twenty months. This is a McLaren Vale Cabernet with surprising approachability, combining rich, vibrant fruit with great structure and well-handled oak.
