Last Stocks | Special Value - James Halliday
A standout winery of South Australia's Langhorne Creek, Lake Breeze has long been considered one of Australia's leading Cabernet makers - delivering a quality that always punches above its weight.
This 2017 Lake Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon was made from grapes from 40 year old vines on the Follett family vineyard, traditional open fermentation was employed followed by maturation in French oak barriques for 20 months, prior to bottling. The wine displays a lifted aromatics of black fruits and violets, along with some cedary oak nuances. The concentrated palate has a lovely silky texture, showing chocolate and cassis flavours and a wonderfully long finish.
"94 Points. Langhorne Creek is a full-on (cool) maritime climate, so wines of this quality and character priced this low are a bargain - and '17 was a great vintage. The wine is flush with cassis, a splash of plum and oak, and ripe tannins. Special Value. $26. 13.8% alc. Drink to: 2032. Screwcap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
Lake Breeze is one of Australia’s most awarded boutique wineries, including being named 'Best Value Winery' in the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion.
The Follett family have been grape growers in Langhorne Creek for 130 years and winemakers for over 30 years and have rapidly built an enviable reputation for consistently producing outstanding wines.
Lake Breeze selects only the best 40% of fruit from the older vines on the property to create wines with amazing depth of flavour. At Lake Breeze a minimal intervention approach is taken with all of the wines, with most receiving no filtration or fining at all. With the small amount of fining undertaken, they have a commitment to avoid using any animal-based fining agents.
