95 Points - Jane Faulkner
Named 'Best Value Winery' in the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion, Lake Breeze continues to deliver some impressive 'bang-for-buck' wines from their Langhorne Creek winery. A long-time favourite of ours, the 2023 Lake Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon is an impressive release.
Another delicious Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon from the Lake Breeze, this opens with plenty of lifted black fruits and violet aromatics on this nose. The palate is flavour packed with loads of juicy blackcurrants, chocolate and blueberry flavours that are supported by some quality oak. A wine of effortless power, with a silky texture and impressively long finish, this will be another hugely popular release.
"95 Points. Context is important in wine. Aside from being a steal, this is a classy cabernet. Fruit off vines hovering around 45 years, aged in French barriques, 30% new and aged 20 months all up. It’s made with intent, it’s made well and it highlights cassis and blackberries dipped in choc-mint, sweet spices and cedary oak (a little sweet but will fall back in time). The palate is well composed and filled with textural tannins, fresh acidity and more besides. Enjoyment writ large here. $28. 14% alc. Drink: 2025 - 2033. Screwcap"- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion.
