95 Points - Jane Faulkner | Best Shiraz Trophy - 2024 Langhorne Creek Wine Show
A standout winery of South Australia's Langhorne Creek, Lake Breeze continues to be run by the Follett family, who have been growing grapes on the property for over 130 years. Named 'Best Value Winery' in the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion, Lake Breeze continues to deliver some impressive 'bang-for-buck' wines from their Langhorne Creek winery.
This 2023 Lake Breeze Section 54 Shiraz is another phenomenal value Langhorne Creek Shiraz that was awarded the 'Best Shiraz Trophy' at the 2024 Langhorne Creek Wine Show. This has also drawn glowing praise from Jane Faulkner writing in the Halliday Wine Companion.
Made from Lake Breeze's old vine Shiraz nurtured in small open fermenters, this was aged in quality French oak for 15 months maturation. The result is an utterly delicious, flavoursome and medium-bodied Shiraz with plenty of trademark regional chocolate and dark berry flavours. With a velvety texture, a touch of spice and a long, balanced finish, this is a Shiraz of enormous appeal at this great price.
"95 Points. I’ve always had a soft spot for this shiraz - it just appeals on so many levels and is ridiculously priced (as in a bargain!). Be greeted by a brilliant dark purple hue, a wave of florals and a baker’s spice range, plus some charry oak. Fuller-bodied, plump, ripe and textural tannins in unison with fresh acidity give an overall vibrancy. Ends with simple drinking pleasure. $26. 14.5% alc. Drink: 2025 - 2033. Screwcap"- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion.
