95 Points - Gary Walsh
One of Australia’s most talented and celebrated winemakers, Luke Lambert consistently produces a stunning array of Yarra Valley wines. With a minimal-intervention style, Lambert believes the personality of the wine should be dictated by its place.
We're delighted to welcome this highly anticipated 2023 Lambert's Syrah; a cool-climate red wine that will only enhance the sizeable reputation of this wine. This 2023 Lambert Yarra Valley Syrah is made from grapes grown on the windy, east-facing slopes of the Tobooburra Estate in the Yarra Valley. This exposed site with its rocky, volcanic soils deliver low yields of intensely flavoured grapes.
The 2023 is a product of a cooler season; allowing it to achieve a greater depth, detail and the spice that Lambert strives for in his Syrah. Made using all the care and attention this winery is known for, this is a beautifully perfumed, expressive and all-round delicious Yarra Valley Syrah that offers top-line drinking. Stocks are limited and likely to go quickly.
“Beautifully poised, cool expression of shiraz with concentrated but elegant dark cherry fruit and a subtle overlay of spice. A very good follow-up to the excellent 2022, which is drinking beautifully now. $55”- Max Allen, The Financial Review.
"95 Points. 80% whole bunch, and in 2023, picked a month later than the 2022. Dark cherry and blue fruits, plenty of spice, black olive and grilled meat. It’s medium-bodied, spicy and perfumed, meaty too, with a surprisingly intense burst of ‘minerally’ acidity through its core. Tannin is all crushed rock and sooty goodness, and the finish is long and savoury and stalky. Very good. 13.5% alc. $55. Diam. Drink: 2024 - 2031+."- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
