All Lightfoot & Sons’ Myrtle Point wines are made solely from grapes grown at the Lightfoot family's Myrtle Point vineyard in Victoria's East Gippsland; a cool, semi-maritime climate regions that has proven particularly ideal for making high quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Made in a fresh, modern style, this offers lively grapefruit and stone fruit characters on the palate that are complemented by some quality French oak influence. Barrel fermentation and lees contact adds to the complexity and texture while the natural acidity gives the wine finesse and a lingering finish. A high quality Australian Chardonnay that offers superb value drinking at this price.
Located between the Dividing Range and Bass Strait, the region is Victoria’s most easterly viticultural area. The heart and soul of the family business is their Myrtle Point Vineyard positioned high on an exposed plateau of Terra Rosa soil above a limestone bluff.
The wines are made by Tom Lightfoot and Alastair Butt. Alastair brings more than 25 years of winemaking experience to the winery, working previously at Seville Estate in the Yarra Valley and Brokenwood in the Hunter Valley. Tom worked a number of vintages in wineries throughout Australia and the USA (making Pinot Noir in Oregon) after completing a Viticultural Science and Wine Production degree. Tom now manages the Myrtle Point vineyard and assists Alastair in winemaking.
