2020 Wine Of The Year - Winestate Magazine
Gold Medal | 95 Points - 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Show
As one of Australia's most popular and consistently best value red wines, Majella The Musician continues to deliver a wonderful example of the classic Aussie Cabernet Shiraz blend from South Australia's Coonawarra region.
The 2018 Majella The Musician is another impressive offering that's already drawing plenty of attention including being named 'Wine Of The Year 2020' by Winestate magazine and collecting a gold medal at the 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Show.
Bursting with plenty of typical blackcurrant, raspberry and herb notes, this mouth-wateringly juicy and approachable red wine will deliver plenty of drinking pleasure in the short to medium term.
"You have to admire the balance of this wine. It has texture, tannin and curranty fruit flavour and while it’s not a team of champions it tastes like a champion team. All the flavours and components, as light-ish as they are, pull together in harmony. Value drinking at its best. 92 Points Tasted: Jan20 14.5% alc. $18 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2026"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
Fourth generation Coonawarra farmers, George and Pat Lynn, established Majella in 1968. Fruit had been prominently sold to premium, local producers, but on the whole Majella now reserves the best parcels for their wines.
Located on the prime cigar strip of red earth in Coonawarra, Majella is know for its premium wines and vineyard sites. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot are the hero grapes joined by little sister Riesling. The Malleea is the top flight wine; a traditional Cabernet Shiraz blend.
High tech winemaking equipment drives the winery, and the cellar door benefits from a Stephen Herbert (architect) designed space. The winery is functional and allows for pristine fruit and vibrant flavour to sing through.
