The impressive Monteveccho range of wines come from the meticulously tended Chalmers vineyard in Heathcote. The Montevecchio wines are made by the highly skilled Sandro Mosele whose minimal intervention style allows the varieties and terroir to shine through in these food friendly wines.
The 2021 Montevecchio Bianco is super interesting (and delicious) blend of Vermentino, Garganega, Malvasia and a small amount of Moscato Giallo. There's plenty of apples and stone fruits on the nose, along with some subtle soft spice for added lift. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with crisp, clean flavours, crunchy acidity, and a refreshing finish.
"Co-fermented field blend made with various percentages of vermentino, pecorino, fiano, Ribolla Gialla, Fatanghina, inzolia and moscato giallo. You could set a scrabble board on fire with that lot. You get richness, texture and enough length to satisfy, and that’s all you really need to know. It tastes of grapefruit, citrus and ‘tropical fruit’, but it’s the chalkiness of its texture and the overall flavour-exuberance that really marks it as a wine worth buying and drinking. 92 Points Tasted: Mar22 12.5% alc. $25 Screwcap Drink: 2022 - 2024"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
