Based in the Leongatha region of Gippsland, Mount Macleod have developed a reputation for making some of the region's most impressive and best value wines. All vineyards are managed organically, with sustainable, low environmental impact and the forefront of everything they do. Combined with a paired-back (yet highly skilled) winemaking of Mark Matthews, the Mount Macleod wines are some of the most impressive and under-exposed wines around.
The 2021 Mount Macleod Gruner Veltliner represents the third release of this increasingly popular native Austrian variety. Wild-fermented and raised mainly in stainless steel, with one neutral barrel in the mix to add breadth and complexity.
This is a striking, savoury dry white with intense white pepper, nashi pear and green plum aromas. The palate shows crunchy, fresh acidity interweaving notes of guava, lime pulp and citrus blossom. A delicious Gippsland Gruner with good texture and virbancy, all with a relatively low 11.5% alc.
