95 Points - James Suckling
Murdoch Hill is one of the most exciting wine producers in the Adelaide Hills; consistently producing stunning examples of the region's hero varietals. Nestled in the undulating hills of Oakbank, the Estate vineyards were planted by the Downer family in 1998.
The 2024 Murdoch Hill is another super impressive Adelaide Hills Chardonnay that is receiving some widespread praise. Offering bright, focused fruit flavours, with notes of citrus, green apple, and zesty grapefruit. Its vibrant acidity and precise structure create a refreshing and elegant palate, reflecting the cool climate of Adelaide Hills.
"95 Points. This shows so much poise and flashy minerality. Restrained aromas of grilled lemons, struck match, crushed stones, grapefruit, lime leaves and citrus blossoms. The palate is pure and refined, with generous fruit intensity supported by a textural mouthfeel and bright acidity. Good value. Drink or hold. Screw cap."- James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, September 2025.
"93 Points. There's an energy here, a forewarning, perhaps, that one glass won't do. White nectarine, lime zest, cracked wheat, Granny Smith apple and orchard florals. Some grapefruit pithiness, too. The acidity, racy, a live wire woven through the fruit, but there's ease to be had and a glass to refill."- Katrina Butler, Halliday Wine Companion 24 February 2026.
