95 Points - Janes Faulkner
The 2019 Paringa Peninsula Shiraz is another outstanding example of Mornington Peninsula Shiraz from this esteemed producer. Following up from the superb 2018 vintage which judged 'Best Victorian Shiraz' at the 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Show, this again shows the lofty heights cool-climate Mornington Peninsula Shiraz is capable of reaching.
Containing around 5% viognier, which was co-fermented with the shiraz, the bouquet offers spicy blackberry fruit along with the lifted floral viognier aromatics. The palate delivers plenty of black fruits, black pepper and fine grained tannins. A medium bodied Mornington Peninsula Shiraz with texture and power, but a lovely finesse that speaks of its cool climate origin.
"95 Points. Fruit sourced from various peninsula sites, co-fermented with 5% viognier and aged 11 months in used French barriques. A vibrant garnet/purple hue; a core of ripe plums, with a flash of cloves, cinnamon, all warm spices and florals. The palate is savoury, with an appealing succulence bolstered by supple tannins and terrific freshness. It seems vintage '19 suits shiraz from this region. $29. 13.5% alc. Drink by: 2029.
