Based in the Polish Hill River sub-region of South Australia's Clare Valley, Pauletts has long been regarded as one of Australia's leading Riesling makers; producing a style can be enjoyed young or develop further depth and complexity with several years in the cellar.
The 2019 Pauletts Polish Hill Clare Valley River Riesling is another wonderfully flavoursome and expressive example of Clare Valley Riesling that is sure to please the many fans this wine already has. For those with the patience, we suggest stashing some away in the cellar and observing it evolve over the next decade.
"95 Points. This is a delicious riesling, a true rendition of the variety, courtesy of a blend of Rose's lime juice, Meyer lemon, passionfruit and Granny Smith apple held in a fine web of acidity. Time will bring change, but it's a purely personal decision to drink it now or later. Best have a bob each way. $30.00 12% alc. Drink By: 2035 Screwcap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
"93 Points. Tasting alongside the 2019 Grosset Polish Hill (no river), and interesting to taste the similarities, and little differences. I like the grip and intensity on offer here. It’s green apple sorbet tang, some lime, lime rind, and vanilla, a pleasant green herb and quinine-like bitterness gives it a good old tweak, chalky texture, long firm finish. A little rugged in a way, but packed with personality and appeal. Tasted: Feb20 12% alc. $28 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2030" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
