Located at Red Hill on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip Estate consistently produce some of Victoria's leading Pinot Noir. Port Phillip Estate Balnarring Pinot Noir represents the exploration of their Balnarring vineyard, which was acquired by Port Phillip Estate in 2007.
The 2024 Port Phillip Estate Balnarring Pinot Noir is another brilliant example of Peninsula Pinot Noir delivering a heady mixture of black cherry and blackcurrant aromas along with some spicy whole-bunch-derived complexity. The medium weighted palate delivers loads of juicy dark cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavours which are a feature of this lovely approachable Pinot Noir.
"Balnarring vineyard established in 1997. It’s going to be interesting to see how these 2024 pinot noirs age. This Balnarring release is backward, herbal, stewy and spicy, with a smoky/bunchy finish and sound, sinewy length. It has an element of brood to it and decent power, without offering much in the way of enjoyment as a young wine. It has most of its bets on black, so to speak; it needs to be stashed, with fingers crossed. That said, the components here feel quality. It’s more like to mature well, than not. 92+ Points. Tasted: Jun25 12.5% alc. $44. Screwcap. Drink: 2027 - 2031+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
