Located at Red Hill on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip Estate consistently produce some of Victoria's leading Pinot Noir. Port Phillip Estate Balnarring Pinot Noir represents the exploration of their Balnarring vineyard, which was acquired by Port Phillip Estate in 2007.
The 2022 Port Phillip Estate Balnarring Pinot Noir is another brilliant example of Peninsula Pinot Noir delivering a heady mixture of black cherry and blackcurrant aromas along with some spicy whole-bunch-derived complexity. The medium weighted palate delivers loads of juicy dark cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavours which are a feature of this lovely approachable Pinot Noir.
"Red cherry, spiced strawberry, mint/aniseed, dried herbs, and a little undergrowth. It’s a little sappy, with sweet and sour red fruits, a cranberry freshness to acidity, some orange zest, cool and precise, with fine dusty tannin grip, and a spicy, gently peppery finish of brightness and crisp acidity. Lively. Better again with a few more years on it, I’d say. Rated: 93 Points Tasted: May23 13% alc. $44 Screwcap Drink: 2024 - 2032"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
