The 2018 Port Phillip Estate Balnarring Pinot Noir is another brilliant example of Peninsula Pinot Noir delivering a heady mixture of black cherry and blackcurrant aromas along with some spicy whole-bunch-derived complexity. The palate opens with raspberry flavours and a juicy mid-palate that is well supported by tannin. The broad, powerful finish is capped off with fine mineral intensity and balanced acid. It shows good mid-term ageing potential.
"93 Points. Port Phillip Estate doesn’t get it wrong very often. This 2018 release from the Balnarring sub-region of the Mornington Peninsula is another victory for the label. It’s tangy and tart wth excellent complexity but most of all: drinkability. It slips down easily and well. Sweet beetroot, earth, red cherries and dry, woodsy spice notes. Plenty going on, long lines of flavour, disciplined tannin and a burst of something extra through the finish. Tasted: Apr19 Alcohol: 13% Price: $39 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2019 - 2025" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
