Stephen Pannell marked 10 years of the S.C. Pannell label in style, buying a vineyard he’s loved for years, acquiring a winery and cellar door in the heart of McLaren Vale. Growing up in the wine industry as a member of the family that founded Moss Wood in 1967, Pannell has garnered unparalleled experience over the years from many of Australia’s best wineries, including Wirra Wirra and Hardys, where he was Chief Red Winemaker from 1999 to 2003.
Consistently rated as one of Australia's finest examples of Sauvignon Blanc, the 2023 SC Pannell Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a vineyard in Carey Gully that Stephen has worked with for over twelve years, consistently delivering fruit freshness and natural acidity. Stylistically opposed to Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a wine more akin to the food-friendly nature of Sancerre or Graves.
"White currant, lime blossom and French tarragon aromas are followed by a citrus-driven palate with passionfruit and gooseberry providing the harmony. Grapefruit, chalk and snow peas finish things off. Classic. Fresh and vibrant with tension and length, with a hint of phenolics adding to the texture and flow". - Stephen Pannell.
