"Excellent" - Gary Walsh
Paul Scorpo produces some truly superb fruit from his meticulously planted vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula. With the assistance of acclaimed winemaker Sandro Mosele (Kooyong/ Port Phillip Estate), Scorpo Wines has built a reputation for making some of the Peninsula’s finest examples of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The 2019 Scorpo Chardonnay is another exceptional example of Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay; with a youthful straw appearance and tightly wound cool-climate aromas of nectarine, mandarin, lemon rind and nougat. The refined and complex palate offers a nice mix of grapefruit and vanilla spice with a precise, compelling mineral finish.
"Struck match, pink grapefruit, pear skin, a wee bit of caramel butter, fennel and spice. It’s tight, tangy, all the citrus fruits, juicy and tangy, fresh and chalky, some pithy bitterness, and a long firm finish offering plenty of zing and zest. Excellent. A lot of energy and coiled power here. 94 Points Tasted: Oct21 13.5% alc. $48. Screwcap. Drink: 2021 - 2025+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
