Established in 1982, Scotchmans Hill is located in the heart of the Bellarine Peninsula and has long been regarded as one of the region's premier producers.
This 2019 Scotchmans Hill Shiraz is brilliant example of the lofty heights Bellarine Peninsula Shiraz is capable of reaching when done well. Complex nose of dark plum, ripe cherry aromas, the palate is intensely flavoured yet approachable with an array of red fruits and dark cherries. Finishing with incredible balance and length, this continues the outstanding recent form of Scotchmans Hill Shiraz.
Review of the 2018 vintage included below;
"98 Points. 15% whole bunches, wild fermentation, 10 months in French oak. A highly expressive, fragrant and complex bouquet carries onto the savoury/spicy palate with wild blackberry, licorice and black peppercorn flavours. The tannins are very good, adding to texture and length. $42. Screwcap. Drink by 2040. 14.5% alc." - James Halliday, Top 100 Wines 2020.
