Located in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood is one of the largest vineyards in this acclaimed region stretching across the 300 acre Estate. The wines are made at their state of the art winery by the highly acclaimed Darryl Catlin, who previously served as a winemaker at Shaw and Smith for 13 years.
This 2023 Sidewood Oberlin Pinot Noir is a limited release designed to showcase the high quality Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir is capable of achieving. 100% whole-bunch fermented, this has lovely aromas of wild strawberry, rose petal, black truffle and whiffs of funky earthiness and forest floor.
The palate combines flavours of plums, dark chocolate with an alluring fine line of fresh acidity and mineral-like tannins. A Pinot Noir of impressive weight and complexity, this is a delicious short to medium term proposition.
"92 Points. Produced from the rare Oberlin clone of pinot noir, as is the label's namesake. Sees time in larger, matured French oak barrels, of which only a selection deemed the best make this wine. This is a supple and fruit-driven style, just shy of medium weight with plush, red cherry fruitiness amongst raspberry, clove, white pepper and mixed Italian herbs with a lick of curiously placed cucumber and aloe vera greenery in the mix. All up, very easy drinking and lots of charm with a unique personality in play."- Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion.
