96 Points - Nick Stock
One of our long-time favourites South Australian wineries, Sons of Eden consistently produce an impressive range of Eden Valley wines. While their reds deservedly attract plenty of attention, their Freya Riesling is always a high quality example.
This 2020 Sons Of Eden Freya Riesling is bursting with lemon, melon and lime aromas with a touch of lavender undertone. A refreshing and bright palate with lovely mid-palate flesh, finishing with zest and crunchy acidity. A delicious wine, approachable upon release this wine will also mature very well for many years to come.
"96 Points. A very finely detailed nose with lemon, lime, light pepper, crushed stones, apple blossom, flint and chalk. The palate has a superb delivery of super long, elegant yet powerful lemon, apple and grapefruit flavors. Fresh and focused finish. Concentrated. Drink or hold"- Nick Stock, jamessuckling.com, Top 100 Australian Wines of 2020.
"94 Points. Lime, white flower perfume, a dusting of pepper and spice, green apple. It’s quite tight, but has an approachable nature, lime zest and green apple, stony and lightly chalky, frisky but flavoursome, with preserved lemon and pith running on a long finish. Delicious wine. Has grip and energy, and a subtle come-hither personality. Tasted : Dec20 12.5% alc. $25 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2027+" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
Sons of Eden is one of the Barossa's brightest young wineries, committed to delivering wines with flavour and personality from vineyards throughout this famous wine region.
Sons of Eden takes its name from the two partners; Winemaker Corey Ryan and Viticulturist Simon Cowham, who both learned and refined their trades in the vineyards and cellars of Eden Valley.
The team focusses on varieties that the Barossa produces to the highest standards, including Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre from the Barossa Valley as well as Riesling from the Eden Valley.
Sons of Eden wines are crafted using carefully managed and selected fruit as well as a mixture of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. Current standouts include the great value Kennedy GSM, Pumpa Cabernet and Marschall Shiraz, while the Zephyrus Shiraz is an outstanding Shiraz made from a combination of Eden and Barossa Valley fruit.
