Sorry all stocks are now sold out
The legendary Sorrenberg of Victoria's Beechworth region has an almost mythical status, with their wines some of the most sought-after in Australia. One of Australia's leading Gamay makers, the quality of Sorrenberg's offering seemingly soars to new heights with each release.
After not producing any Gamay under this label from the 2020 vintage, the newly released 2021 Sorrenberg Gamay has been highly anticipated and is already attracting plenty of attention. As always, and our limited stocks will sell out quickly.
“The style of Gamay we produce uses a combination of traditional Gamay techniques. There is 10% Pinot Noir used in the blend. Half of the Gamay was cold macerated where the fruit is picked cold, crushed and left to soak for 4 days before fermentation starts. Of the rest, 20% of the fruit is left whole in the ferment. Fermentation with natural yeast is for 2 weeks on skins, after which the wine is pressed and matured in oak for eleven months. It is showing aromatics of sour cherry, red berries and hints of cardamom spice. The red berry fruit carries through onto the palate where fine grain tannins and natural acidity combine with earthy undertones to develop a balanced palate with a lingering finish.”- Sorrenberg Wines.
