Spinifex is one of the most exciting Barossa Valley wineries of recent times, always hitting the seemingly perfect balance between approachable, modern wine styles while respecting the traditions of the region. Spinifex Miette Shiraz is made with the declassified parcels of Barossa and Eden Valley Shiraz that don't make it into the Spinifex label, though there is nothing second-rate about this impressive offering.
Bright, juicy and delicious, the 2021 Spinifex Miette Shiraz is a superb Barossa Shiraz of great complexity and fruit density. Spiced cherry, mulberry, dried cranberries, curry leaf, green peppercorn and beetroot aromas overlay warmer plum and chocolate notes on the nose. Mid weight and fresh on the palate which displays spiced red fruits, dried herb and savoury dried woody spice flavours.
"There’s a good body flavour to be tucked into here. It’s sweet fruited, all raspberry and plum, with clove and general spice notes tickling about the edges. It’s ripe/sweet and generally pretty simple but it has good, flow, feel and stuffing. 90 Points Tasted: Apr23 14.5% alc. $25 Screwcap Drink: 2023 - 2028"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
