The 2015 Tim Adams Aberfeldy is again in superb form displaying great depth and length of flavour. The palate is full bodied with dark berry conserve flavours, balanced oak and firm tannin generated from a dry, low yielding vintage. The wine has persistent length of sweet fruit and oak, with power, elegance and great finesse.
"94 Points. Hand-picked components of the final blend were macerated for 14 days post ferment, contributing to the full body of the wine. This was then taken to another level with 24 months maturation in new American and French hogsheads. Tim Adams says the wine is described by some as the Clare Valley's Grange, and I don't quarrel with that. $60. 14.9% alc. Drink by 2035. Screwcap" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2020.
In addition to the wines under the Tim Adams label, Tim Adams launched the 'Mr Mick' range of wines following the purchase of the famous Leasingham winery. This range is named in honour of K.H Knappstein aka 'Mr Mick'; a legend of Australian wine and a former mentor of Tim Adams. These wines offer fine examples of the varieties Tim and the Clare Valley do best along with some emerging, less conventional varietals.
Some current standouts in the Mr Mick range include their Vermentino, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz along with a very impressive Tempranillo - these all offer approachable, flavoursome styles at very reasonable prices.
