Tim Smith is an incredibly talented winemaker and one of Australia's most awarded. Focused on making wines from the Barossa's time proven varietals (Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz), he consistently delivers benchmark Barossa red wines.
Tim Smith Bugalugs Grenache has established itself as one of Australia's best value examples of Grenache and the 2022 vintage again delivers a delicious, approachable red wine upon release. Medium-bodied with plenty of vibrancy and juicy red currants, plum, spice and soft tannins, this is a Barossa Grenache of wide appeal.
"Black and red fruit meet right in the middle in this old vine regional Barossa Grenache. Black cherries, ripe raspberries and two tone mulberries, you know the ones. Subtle bay leaf and dried sage are followed by cassia bark and wet coffee grinds. There is a soft licorice on the palate with good density of fruit, perky acidity and enough stuffing for any red wine drinker. A wine for slow cooked meaty things like casseroles, stews and one pot wonders. Less fuss and more time to sit and enjoy your wine. 92 Points. $30. Drink: 2023 - 2027"- Shanteh Wale, winepilot.com.
